Châteauneuf-du-Pott, Mt. Veeder,
We make three Estate wines:
Newest wine from Chateauneuf-du-Pott on Mt. Veeder. A Franc/Merlot blend. Available February 2018
Our white wine: richesse, floral and fruit notes beautifully co-mingling. 100% Viognier. Available February 2018
100% Cabernet Sauvignon, from our own tiny, hand-farmed vineyard. We harvested only about 24 cases of precious wine. Available October 2017
Situated at 1600 ft on the westernmost ridge of Napa Valley, with its oak-studded meadows, hawks, pumas and towering redwoods, few places are as unique as our Châteauneuf du Pott on Mt. Veeder. Our property is over 200 acres of wild land straddling a ridge top from whose peaks you get 360 views of the Valley, the Sierras beyond and San Francisco – with its famous fault line – to the south. Mt. Veeder itself is a dormant volcano, and the tension of two great tectonic plates can be seen in the plunging canyons of the landscape and its soils of ancient sea-floor shale and sandstone. These fractious and friable rocks drain well and are perfectly constituted for growing grapes.
The planted vineyard is only 4.69 acres composed of 8 separate mini-blocks due to the steepness of the terrain. Each tiny site, one only 0.2 acres, produce the micro-differences that promote unlimited complexity.
We farm entirely organically, using the biodynamic techniques Aaron learned in St. Emilion and adapted to a California context. We manage our yields with draconian rigidity to ensure ideal concentration and richness.
